{"id":37,"date":"2006-05-16T21:23:06","date_gmt":"2006-05-16T19:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bijt.org\/wordpress\/2006\/05\/16\/update-not-perished\/"},"modified":"2009-09-08T13:28:34","modified_gmt":"2009-09-08T11:28:34","slug":"update-not-perished","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bijt.org\/wordpress\/2006\/05\/16\/update-not-perished\/","title":{"rendered":"Update (not perished&#8230;)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yes yes, still here.. after finally moving to my own apartment in the east of Amsterdam and becoming responsible for my own dirty dishes, and after finishing <em>Sources of the Self<\/em>, the magnum opus by Charles Taylor&#8217;s (yes, the Liberian dictator-philosopher \ud83d\ude09 it&#8217;s time for a little update on what I&#8217;ve been up to lately:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Writing on my paper about mobile communication as gift culture. Unfortunately it was turned of for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scils.rutgers.edu\/ci\/cmcs\/events\/call%20for%20papers.htm\">the book<\/a> by Katz, Ling and Campbell.<\/li>\n<li>Reading: i.a. Taylor, and a lot of literature on mobile communication.<\/li>\n<li>Succeeded in getting the NWO grant for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bijt.org\/wordpress\/2006\/02\/01\/science-art-project-nwo-mobile-art\/\">art\/science project<\/a>. Really cool: I joined a preliminary plan by artist Esther Polak and anthropologist Ab Drent who want to work with the perceptions and visualisations of space amongst the pastoral Fulani herdsman in west-Africa. The project as it is planned now would take place in Nigeria. The idea is, as said in an earlier post, to let scientist and artist cooperate in a project, with both of them learning and gaining insights from the other.
